No team has managed to lock up a first-round bye at this point in the season.
In the NFC, the Bears, Saints and Rams are the only teams in the running for one of those byes. At best, the Cowboys can finish in the third spot. The Vikings and Seahawks are locked in a battle for the fifth and sixth seed. The Eagles and Redskins are also in the running for those spots — as well as the fourth spot that currently belongs to the NFC East-leading Cowboys. The Panthers are still alive in the wild-card chase.
In the AFC, eight teams are still in contention for a bye week in the playoffs. We know one of those spots will go to the AFC West champions. The loser of that race will be locked into the five-seed. All of the other spots are still up for grabs.
