MLB Spot Play – Chicago White Sox vs. Houston Astros

sportsIn this afternoon’s divisional matchup of the Chicago White Sox vs. Houston Astros, our MLB spot plays lands us on the Houston Astros (-1 1/2, +155).  Lance Lynn, the starting White Sox pitcher, has been tailing off late in the year.  In fact, he has had two very bad outings in his last five attempts.  To make matters worse, his post season record is awful.  He has lost six of his last seven starts dating back to 2013.  Don’t be surprised if it is an early afternoon for the talented pitcher from Indy.

Lance McCullers Jr., on the other hand, has been a model of consistency.  His lone outing against the Sox was a jewel, allowing only one earned run in 7 full innings.  He is coming in confident and should pitch well this afternoon.  Head to head, the Astros won the season series 5-2 against the White Sox and outscored them 35-23 in the process (an average of over 8 runs per game).

Both teams are excellent hitting teams, which gives us cause to look at the over (7 1/2) and we may make a small play on that.  However, Astros to win is the solid spot play.  Chicago White Sox vs. Houston Astros?  Take the Astros.
