MLB Spot Play – Giants versus Dodgers

106-Win Wild Card Dodgers Should Be Final Straw for MLB's Broken Playoff FormatMLB Spot Play in tonight’s divisional matchup between the San Francisco Giants and the Los Angeles Dodgers.  Again, this comes down to a mismatch on the mount.  Max Scherzar sports an impressive 2.94 FIP with a .168 BA against the batters in the opposing lineup tonight.  Scherzar has had another solid year, and despite a rough ending to the season where he had two bat outings, his prior 6 outings were awesome.  He allowed only one earned run over the course of those 6 starts.  Scherzar has had a week and a half rest to prepare for this game, and Spot Plays expects the real Max Scherzar to show up.

The Giants, on the other hand, have a pitcher in Alex Wood who has just been OK against tonight’s opponent.  In 17 innings against the Dodgers this year he allowed 9 earned runs.  Wood is 10-4 on the season with a 3.84 ERA.  The Dodgers are very familar with Wood and they’ll get to him tonight.

The Dodgers have the momentum and the big pitching edge tonight.  We’ll take L.A. and lay the 1 1/2 runs for +105.
