Take the LOUISVILLE CARDINALS laying 3 points against SOUTHERN MISS in the Dec. 21 St. Peterburg Bowl. Why is a 6-6 team the favorite against an 8-4 team? Because UofL is a rejuvinated program under 2-time National Champion and 1st year coach Charlie Strong. Under Strong’s guidance, UofL went from a program picked last in the Big East, the laughing stock of the league, to the 12th best defense in the nation. Cardinals shut out two opponents this year. They crushed a depleted UCONN HUSKIES team, and they were “in” every game this year. Several of their six losses, to teams like West Virginia, they could have won with some luck.
What I also love is that they beat So. Miss last year, and the Cards were not half the team last year as they are this year. Lay the points. The Cards win this in the Bowl Season opener.
